ADVANCING CATTLE AND RUMINANT
HEALTH AND PRODUCTION
ACROSS AFRICA

Welcome to the 1st African Buiatric Congress

This inaugural congress marks an important milestone: a continent-wide forum dedicated to “Buiatrics”, the study and advancement of the health, welfare, and production of cattle and other ruminants. It will bring together the African and international veterinary communities to share knowledge and address the needs and aspirations of livestock production across Africa.

For many years, we have hoped to create such a meeting place. Thanks to the commitment of the Veterinary Association of Namibia and the support of partners who share our vision for advancing buiatrics in Africa, this long-standing ambition is now becoming a reality.

We warmly welcome academics, researchers, veterinary practitioners, industry representatives, livestock producers, and other professionals involved in ruminant health and production. The congress will offer an opportunity to present research findings, share practical experiences, and discuss common challenges, while recognising the diversity of livestock systems across the continent.

Our ambition is to build lasting connections between science and practice, strengthen professional relationships across countries, and encourage collaborations that continue well beyond the congress. Together, we hope to support advances in ruminant health and sustainable livestock production that benefit veterinary professionals, farmers, and the communities they serve.

We would be delighted to have you join us for this first edition.
